Freeriding & ski touring
in Zell am See – KaprunFreeriding on the three mountains in the region
Those looking for more adventure than “normal” skiing on the three mountains of the holiday region – Kitzsteinhorn Glacier, Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See and Maiskogel in Kaprun – can get an extra adrenaline rush by freestyling on the fun slopes in the region.
At 1,300 meters, the Fun Slope XXL in Schmittenhöhe is the world’s longest fun slope, inviting you to test your skills.
The new Eagle Line on the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier offers plenty of fun in the heart of the ski area. The 1 km long piste features banked curves, small jumps and various other obstacles. The Maisi Fantasy Park on Mount Maiskogel is specifically designed children, a place where the little ones can practice their jumps and have fun.
Ski tour adventures on the glacier
If you are looking for a sporting challenge during your winter holiday, then Kaprun is the place for you.
You can explore the glacier ski area by opting for one of the many ski tours on offer, the most popular being the Schneekönigin (Snow Queen) and the Eisbrecher (Icebreaker). Both tours start out from the Langwiedboden gondola station. The Schneekönigin takes you down 474 vertical metres and ends at the Alpincenter, while for those on the Eisbrecher tour this is only a rest station along the route. The Eisbrecher tour then continues, with participants tackling a total of 1,019 vertical metres. Guests who prefer a less challenging excursion can try the weekly guided ski tour to Mount Tristkogel, which offers a breathtaking view of Mount Kitzsteinhorn along the way. The tour takes place every Thursday and requires a minimum of three hours.
